if you're causing noticable damage on the fretwire in just two months, then there's something wrong in your style. if you're getting the right feeling by smashing the strings against the fretboard, it's not a problem for me unless it's my guitar there is a trade off like every thing in life and if you want the cure, that it is what I've written above. You may slightly improve the fret life by lightly applying some machine oil on the frets every now and then.
I have a daily played 12 year old LP which has narrower frets (which means they should wear faster) than on that kv2 and they still stand like brand new. I'd be really sorry to see the fret over bindings being damaged during a refretting process.
btw bibz, theoretically larger frets should add brightness (not mass) to tone but I've never experienced that difference personally on any of my guitars. for example this gentleman says it has a tremendous effect on tone which I totally disagree.
