Humbucker in a slant position

I am not positive, but I also thought that a slanted pickup would either increase or decrease the treble response. I can't remember which one I heard now, but I remember that it would do something to change your tone.

Yes. Eddie Van Halen started doing that. Back in the day, when humbuckers were only standard-spaced for Gibson TOM bridges, he tilted it so the pole pieces would line up better under the strings of his guitars with Fender or Floyd trems (F-spacing pickups would later on fix this).

Yep. And if you slant it the opposite way, like Jake E. Lee had his single coils, you'll get more treble on the lower strings and more bass on the high strings.

If I have a guitar (with a floyd and) with a slanted humbucker and I want to buy a new humbucker, do I have to buy a NON F-spaced humbucker to keep it working well while it's slanted?

It's always made more sense like that to me, too.
The old Jackson Warriors were like that as well, to go along with the slant of the fingerboard.

Back in the 80's I had a few of the B.C Rich Gunslingers with the slanted humbucker and always wondered why it was slanted but my Charvels & Jackson's weren't (until my first model 88).
In fairness, back in the 80's I dont think my shitty Peavey chorus amp would have helped me hear the actual differences between slanted/non slanted.

Actually, Joe, the original Warriors were REVERSE slanted, not exactly the same as the standard slanting, but for similar reasons.
