I prefer maple as long as it doesn't have a glossy lacquer finish. However it just isn't right on fixed and thru-necks...

Maple for me too.

I have guitars with all of these fret boards and I like them all,
for different reasons. if I could only have one though it would be oiled maple.
For some reason I feel I play best on an oiled maple board.
Cocobolo sounds very good my latest GMW is a tremendous sounding guitar.If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?Comment

I have always wanted ebony.....(the black maple) but have never had one yet.... I used to like rosewood, but now I am sold on maple....have an old fender strat with a maple neck and recently bought off ebay a maple charvel neck...boy does that guitar sing !Comment

It depends for me, I like a lot of variety in my stable
To be honest, whether the board is bound or not might be a bigger deal to me.
I'd love a purpleheart fretboard, and I'd also love one of those Brazilian neck/board combos on the fancy PRSs. It's mostly all good
