Bolt on necks/shims

Do all bolt on necks require shims or is it only those with nonrecessed floyds.

It depends on the guitar. Some need them and others don't.

Totally depends on how the neck pocket cut, but in general, it's a Floyd thing.

Pretty well depends on how you like a guitar set up also. Bridge saddle height is very critical for me, and even on my hardtails (Like the Jake or my current Charvel with the blocked v-trem) I've shimmed the neck a tad so I could raise the saddles a scooch. It's not much but it makes a difference to me.

Chuck, what did you use to shim the neck with, and where'd you buy it from? I plan to do this to my Ibanez soon.

use a guitar pick to shim...choose thickness of pick depending on the angle you want
