I'm thinking about putting together a guitar with some odd and/or exotic wood combinations. Has anyone ever used Purpleheart wood for anything before?

Purpleheart has been used for fretboards, inlays, and stringers in laminated necks (5 and 7-piece necks).

Be aware that exotic woods are difficult to work with if you're doing it yourself - some woods contain so much resin that they gum up saw blades and sading pads and other tools, and can take forever to dry when painted/finished.

If you're paying someone else to do it, they'll charge you heavy for the extra workload of using those materials.
