Ah, thanks. So it starts at 12 and moves up to 16?

Yes, at the first fret it is 12" and I think at the 12th fret it is 16".

            12-16

Yupppp. . .all you guys are correct. I pulled the Jackson catalog and posted this for you. So its 12 at the nut (rounder) and gets flatter the higher you go.
            Hope this helps :

Thanks, ADR, that's exactly what I tried to post on the other thread...

What is the Radius of USA Soloist

Yes, Jackson does now use the 12-16 radius.

But here's a trivia question (and no, I don't have the answer!)- when did they start doing this? I believe that they used a straight 16 radius for quite a while.

                  Any thoughts?

No Jackson (ponties) has always used a compound radius. Some have been 12 to 14 and 14 to 16.

I always thought so too, but many of the old sales flyers just say 16". Here's the '84 Charvel and Jackson pricelists. Both say 16" at the nut.

That was my recollection as well, but I wasn't positive. Catalogs/price sheets are probably the best way to figure this out, but I'm still wondering when they made the switch to a compound radius...

I can't read the 92 catalog so I don't know about that year but the first year that I see it mentioned is 93. Doesn't say what it was though. The original strat heads were 11" in 81.

The earliest mention I've seen is in this '88 import Charvel flyer, but I think they were using a compound radius at least as early as '86.

I have some half-assed homemade radius gauges & I'll check my '84 Charvel neck at the next string change.
