need some help about nuts...

i just bought a ke1 kelly. it plays like a dream with one trade. its nut is a little weird. the action is too low but it has nothing to do with bridge. the the string holes on the nut are too low. espcially on the upper ones. e b and g. d is a little low also.because of this the guitar buzzes on some frets.(especially first frets you know 1 to 5).so what should i do? should i change the nut or is there another way around?

You could put a shim under the nut, but if you're going to the trouble, it'd be just as much work as replacing the nut entirely.

If it's a locking nut, replacing it will do no good.
Shim it.

no it is a standart graphite nut. it is a ke1 not a ke1f

I don't know how mechanically inclined you are but if you aren't at all, I'd have a shop take a look at it and all it would probably take is to have a new nut cut (ouch, that just sounds horrible ). If you are so inclined, I'd use a little black epoxy and fill the slots a bit and recut the nut to the proper depth.

You could carefully pull the nut out, and shim it with a few layers of paper, or just have a new nut installed.

If you dont know how to file a nut, pay to have it done. This is not something you want get "gung ho" about, and just have at it without knowing what you're doing.

Read up on how to make your own nut.. Purchase some bone from ebay... get some cutting torch cleaners for your "Nut Files".... You wont' know until you try and make your own. If you fail try again.. Master Luthiers weren't always masters..... they learned along the way by knowledge passed down and trial and error.
