  • what style neck should this have on it?

I looked into this once before and got several answers and was never sure enough about any of them to take one very serious.

Should it be a pointy, strathead, ???

http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/4...6108EZs2rJy0ba It's hard to read but it ways 4-13-83. The 3 is kind of screwed up.

There's no way to know for sure without being able to check the log books, but if I had to guess, my guess would be that it was probably a strathead, based on my gut feeling that most of the solid trans finished guitars I remember seeing from '83 had stratheads. There was a solid maple pointy in that finish not long ago on eBay, though. I think Al Z grabbed it, iirc.

      Thank you.

I was actually afraid of that since the strat head Charvel stuff is about impossible to get without a second mortgage.

This one was already bastardized before I got it. Somebody cut it for a Floyd Rose.

Weren't the pointyhead and Strathead pockets different widths?

Newc's right! Total brainfart on my part. Measure your pocket. Should be 2 1/4" if it was a pointy, and 2 1/8" if it was a strathead.

            I just measured it and it's 2 1/8".

I have a banana head Warmoth on it right now but I'll eventuall try and find a strat head neck to put on it.

I'll probably never be able to put an original Charvel strat head neck and plate on it but I'd like to at least get the right style of neck on there.
