Where do I buy a baseplate for a JT590?

Two of my JT590´s are developing the classic problem with stripped threads for the intonation screws in the baseplate... so naturally I went looking for replacement baseplates. The thing is, I can´t seem to find any... all the other Schaller parts seem to be readily available just about anywhere, but the baseplates are a no-show. Does anyone know where I could find them?

Schaller does not sell base plates. They only sell all the parts to attach to it.
Same thing goes for Floyds.

Their mind set is, once the base plate goes you should buy a whole new trem.

Have you tried repairing the threads with a heli-coil insert?

Well, I suspected as much, but I was hoping I´d just been looking in the wrong places. I´m not a big fan of Ebay, but I guess that´s where I´m headed now. Crap.

I´ll look into the helicoil stuff, but since I´m not much of a handyman myself it may turn out to be too much of a headache. Thanks anyway!

EDIT: What´s the cheapest place to buy a complete Schaller, then? Warmoth, Stewmac, somewhere else...?

Even when accounting for shipping and the hideous 30% import upcharge buying from Warmoth seems to be slightly cheaper than buying from Germany, which is pretty interesting when considering the country of origin of these things.

I wonder if I´ll take the plunge on OFR´s instead... it´ll look a bit funny with the overhang over the back of the route, but I much prefer the OFR´s.

I just went ahead with an order, I guess they are charging the actual shipping amount for countries outside the EU but the thing is you can't see the shipping quote and it says that when I place an order I'll be informed with a mail including the shipping quote and after I confirm the mail the order is done but to do that I need to make the payment without the shipping cost, until I make the payment I can't proceed to that mail thingy, which is pointless

No problem at all! It was actually Jonas Torndal who tipped me about that, maybe 2 years ago. I never ended up ordering one, but I guess it's not too late...

I've been wondering the same thing, and I guess you're on the right track!

Those baseplates reportedly have hardened inserts for the saddle screws, to avoid thread stripping... Great!!!

Hardened inserts? Yay, then I won´t have to do the same thing fifteen years down the road!

The major difference in long-term performance between a Schaller and an OFR seems to be those darn stripped threads... the hardened knife edge inserts hold up great, the arm assembly is just as good and the saddles themselves seem fine over the long haul. With that said, for some reason I tend to like the feel of an OFR better.
