  • Replacing a resistor in an amp

Last night I had a bit of a disaster. My amp started smoking. Turns out one of the leads broke inside the cabinet, so I was running without a load. A few components got fried, including a 5 watt, 15ohm resistor. I could not find a 5 watt replacement, but did find a 10 watt.

Do you think using the 10 watt resistor will present any kind of problem? I've ordered the proper replacement part, but I need the amp for a rehearsal and a gig. I'd prefer to use my gear, but if it will be dangerous, I will find something I can buy/borrow to fill the gap.

10 watt will work fine. But I would be concerned that it acted like a fuse, and further damage awaits. I do plenty of work on amps, but I would have a pro look at this one before I fired it up.
