So I installed new pups and one works and one doesn't. My axe is a '90
Soloist AT that had J-50s in it and I put in SDs.
In the neck I put a SH-1 '59 that has a single-conductor. I soldered the
black ground to the neck post of the 3-way switch and soldered the
shielding to the vol pot. That one works well and sounds good.
For the bridge I put in a SH-13 (dimebucker) and soldered the black to the
bridge post on the 3-way switch and soldered the bare and the green to
the back of the vol pot. This pup doesn't work, but I can hear a little
noise if I crank the vol up full. I did check the distance from the strings
to the pup and set it as close as it should be.
Any thoughts on what to try to get it to work or should I return it? I did
re-melt the solder at both points but that didn't fix it. I can't say for sure
that I did a great solder job but it looks ok. The attachment to the pot
may have been hot solder on a cold pot but it's attached. Thanks.
