Hi, I recently purchased a Jackson DKMG with a floyd rose. When I switch tunings (I play in standard and C standard) I noticed I have to adjust the spring tension to compensate for the different tuning. I played an ESP with a floyd rose before this and the difference in bridge height was miniscule when changing the tune. I know that on my ESP I had 4 springs and my jackson has 3. My question is do you think adding a 4th spring to my DKMG would reduce the amount the bridge angle changes while using alternate tunings? Any other suggestions welcome. My strings are DR Blackbeauty 10's if it helps.

Floyd Rose Alternate Tuning / Springs

its all a balancing act and the more springs you use will make the floyd have a different feel too it. 3 springs have the most even taper if you will as you dive. 4 springs will have a stiffer feel as you dive but will seem a little more loose around the return to zero point. i prefer 3 springs and i use size 10 strings. remember you have to set up a floyd to the size, brand, and tuning of the strings you use. even different brands of the same size string maintain different amounts of tension at correct pitch. so each floyd setup is its own balancing act.
also when dropping to lower tunings you often have to adjust the truss rod as well to maintain proper playability. but tuning to C or B i would recommend a higher gauge string such as 12's or 11's at the lightest to compensate for the tension loss at lower tunings.
guitars respond best to this rough string to tuning guidline:
E = 9's or 10's
Eb = 10's
D = 11's
C/B = 12's
