I got something strange delivered today.
So, not being sure of what could be in it, I threw it in a bucket of super deadly detergent in hot water. I let it air dry. I know a good antique dealer that might know what it is:

I just happened to glance over to my shelves and saw an CBS tube box. It's a NOS 6V6. I can't understand how I didn't see it before. It was at the rear of the MG and on top of the watch.

That tone/on off switch is completely trashed.
Would it bother you if I put a regular tone pot where the tone belongs,
and place a power switch where one of the Instrument Inputs is?

I also plan on putting a three prong wire and plug on it.

So, keeping on topic...
I was pondering the mysterious green wire (keep in mind I've never actually worked on a vintage Champ), and came across this tidbit: The Fender 5E3 circuit used a primitive negative feedback circuit, with a tap from the secondary going back to the rectifier.

Hmmmm.

fett, did you yank a wire, or was it hanging out the whole time?

So, it's one of two things.
It's a tap, for a 8 ohm speaker, or a tap, for a primitive negative feedback.
As to where it would go to the rectifier, I would have to finger it out.
