thanks for the info guys. I'd take out the pup but I was hoping I wouldn't have to take the strings off to see. Looks like I may be able to tell removing the pup ring as the SH and TB have different metal on the screw holes

Newc, smoother pot is normal? I believe it has the drop off effect volume wise, not smooth.

If this is normal I can live with it. I guess I could always use another axe to do Cathedral.

When I got my Charvel Star, the volume pot was pretty tight. It seems to have loosened up now and is easier to turn quicker.

+1 Should be a full shred.

Agreeing with what dg said already, if you are sure you won't ever use the electronics again, I'd say remove all of the electronics and wire it up as a normal guitar. You'd want a 250K or 500K volume and tone pot.

250K makes the guitar warmer sounding. Typically used with singles (i.e. a Strat).

500K makes the guitar brighter sounding. Typically used with humbuckers (i.e. a Les Paul).

With the full shred in there (a bright pickup), I'd try each to see which you like better. If it was an everyday normal pickup (anything other than a FS, JB or SD), you'd want to use a 500K (in other words, 500K is the norm for humbuckers).

Looking at your picture of the guitar, the pole pieces in the pickup are narrower than the string spacing. It's a regular spaced (SH) full shred.

            thanks Don.

If I do decide to do anything I'd get the 250K. All my other axes have them and I'm happy with the tones I get.

Anyone have links to good reliable pots for sale?

And on top of that a wiring diagram for the USA Fusion switch?
