  • 1988 limited edition

    Hi all,
I have a tech question. I have a 1988 limited edition Jackson in denim. The volume pot is starting to go and it needs replacing. It is mounted to the preamp circuit board. Does anyone have an idea where I can get the whole assembly?
Second I am also trying to find the correct schematics for it.
    Thanks Karl

How does the preamp board look like? Any switches or anything on it? And what does it do?

That's the Jackson JE-1000, a really hard to find circuit. If the circuit is still good, you can just replace the volume knob, which was a 50 Kohm pot originally. However, they are tricky to find too, but a 25 K ohm (EMG) pot will work just as well. You have to be very careful when desoldering the pot or you can fry the circuit, so if your soldering skills are weak, take it to someone who is seasoned in that kind of work.

Thanks for the quick responses. You guys answered my questions. I figured it was as rare as the guitar.

Are the 50K ones that came with them an audio taper? I thought in an active circuit it may be linear taper.
