not the string lock screw, but the screw that goes into wood to keep the nut in place. i'm thinking maybe i could use some wood filler, or perhaps buy a longer screw. i've also heard some method that involves inserting a toothpick into the screw hole. any recommendations?

Tooth pick is the key. Mainly as long as the screw has a slightly firm grip to hold the nut in place, that's all that's needed.
Rosewood is a soft wood and can't take alot of cranking.
But yeah, a toothpick w/ a small amount of elmer's glue will do the trick.
Predrill with a bit roughly the same diameter as your screw, to prevent the rosewood from splitting when re entering the screw.'Howling in shadows
