  • Can you ID this body?

I got this used Jackson at DJ Daddy's Junky Music in 1997 (Boston, MA) after saving up from busing tables at the Chili's in Copley Station. I didn't know much about guitars when I bought it, but it was definitely an upgrade from the Bradley guitar I was playing at the time. Those are stickers on the body.

This neck was attached to it. Originally it didn't have Jackson tuners, I'm not sure what inlay material is in there but it doesn't look like the material from my RR Concept. Is there a fake or cheap MOP? The number on the heel is 951013.

Got any pics of the back of the body?
The single coil route reminds me of the older USA routes, but the control layout screams Japanese market Jackson.

Looks like a PS2 body and a DX series neck. The PS2 has the performer on the headstock so its not that. But the neck has to be an import. 24 fret rosewood board with dots. Just screams import to me. And the only USA dinkies i can think of are the DK1 which has an ebony board and sharkies, and the Fusion which is short scale. Which this doesnt apear to be. Also the 12th fret dots are close together. which is saying Japanese to me. Serial number you gave is also japanese.

If it was a PS-2, it would have a recessed Floyd.
Not sure what it is, but it doesn't appear to be a Jackson to me.
I'd like to see a pic of the rear.

With that switch location, it looks like one of those Musician's Friend exclusive Dinky Reverse bodies with a different neck.

            Looks like this:
            1996 Jackson JS20

            But the JS20 is a 22 fret neck not a 24 fret.

I'm stumped, I though it could have been another concept but the knob placement isn't right. It's also not the JS20 by the knob placement as well...

              From the back

After looking again at it, I'd say the knob placement and the flat heel pocket really stand out. The heel pocket has a blurry 6 digit number in the same blueish/ greenish color as the back of the guitar neck. Also there a faint stamp on it, it ends in a '5'. The other letters are hazy... it looks like it could be a TR5?

I'm inclined to agree with you on that Joe.
The MF runs seem to use that control layout alot.
The Japanese market Jacksons use it too.
What's getting me is the sc routes and the non-recessed trem.

                EDIT:
A little Google image search found this.
The MF thing is right Joe.

Yep. I got one of those bodies off ebay a few years ago, questioned whether it was a Jackson because of the control layout, and Jim Shine chimed in and said it was his buddy's auction and it was indeed a Jackson body. I also did dig out an old MF catalog after that which showed those two Dinky Reverse models with the same control layout.

Yeah Joe I belive you are right, my friend has a crap load of old MF and American Musical catalogs, and he found it in his catalog yesterday and told me about it.

You do have an awesome memory for sure!

That devil girl would look kickass airbrushed on there in place of the sticker.

The orange caterpillar thing...not so much.
