ok, well I am replacing the covered pickups in my les paul and want some hotter pickups. I would like to try duncans. I have 2 dimarzio equipped guitars and one duncan. I have a jb-4 in my jackson v, I like it but for my paul I would like more harmonic response. I hear that the duncan distortion, and custom are pretty hot, but idk. I need this pickup to perform clean, and heavy distorted Zakk Wylde metal stuff, better harmonics and more agressive tone is the key. No actives please. Any recommendations?

Certainly NOT the Invader. For Zakk Wylde stuff? No chance.
I'm surprised you want something with more harmonic response than the JB actually, I can get pinch harmonics and stuff no bother with mine.
I would suggest you try the Bill Lawrence USA 500XL. I don't care whether Dimebag really used them or not, I have one and the harmonics scream out of this thing, it's a fantastic pickup for what you describe.
I've never tried the Duncan Distortion it could also be good, the Custom I had in my RR3 and didn't like.
I'd seriously look at the BL USA 500XL. It's about half the price of a Duncan or DiMarzio too.

You're not likely to find both high output and a good clean tone in the same pickup.
For high output with screaming harmonics, a Gibson 500T or Duncan Distortion will be the way to go. For great cleans in the neck and output fairly close to the bridge pickup without breaking up, a JB, Custom Custom, 59, or Custom 5 will be the way to go.I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

I use duncan distortions in most of my guitars. Great for harmonics and clean light stuff. When cranked the distortion is killer!2008 DXMG in Gray w/ Duncan Mayhem set
