Rewiring Problems,

Guys, Im rewiring my jackson ps3T, well the thing is, I put duncans in them, and now im removing them.

Im putting the stock pikcups it came with back, and the problem is,

one of the stock pickups has:

Red and white wire together (correct)
Green Ground Wire (correct)

x There is no bare wire, well there is this one wire that looks like it, its pretty thicker, but it has somewhat a black insulation that's not rubber and not tight around it

x There is no black wire which i believe should go to the volume knob.


The other pickup has both red/white, bare/green, and black. whats the problem with the other?


and by the way, which pickup goes where bridgee/neck? one pickup has a thick black wrapping while the other has grey.

Are ypou looking at Seymour Duncan wiring codes, or the codes for the company who made you pickups?

I'm guessing your stock pickups are Jackson, and if so, you need to use Jackson wiring charts.

Follow the duncan wiring diagram, you can also go to the Duncan site and pick the proper diagram for you pickup config. Hss HH and so on.

use this chart to cross reference the wire colours from the Seymour Duncan wiring diagrams (they are the best diagrams i've seen).

standard series wiring = coils B & D wired together. coils A & C are hot and ground. (if wiring this way causes your pickups to be out of phase, switch wires A & C.)

The shield and the black wrapped wire may just be too short and are inside the main wrap.
Strip it down a little and splice a new wire on to them if ya need more length.
They should wire just like a duncan. Except the green and black are reversed if with another brand pup. It would be out of phase. As long as you wire both pups the same way. they should be fine.

How can you tell if the pickup is out of phase? It's easy to tell with stereo speakers, since the sound loses focus and is not centered between the speakers, but guitars are mono.

in an HH guitar put the selector in the middle so both pickups are on at the same time. if one is out of phaze you will hear a drop in volume.

phase only matter when you have 2 componets on at the same time.

A= (+) C= (-) if you have phazing issues, switch them.
