So, funny story.....

I get a message from the supplier of that ridiculous top and he tells me that he has another top cut FROM THE SAME BOARD as the top I had purchased from him. He had been saving it but realized that he's never going to get through his private stock of stuff (which is where this top had sat), and he had wondered if, y'know, I might be interested in it.

Um. Yes.



Of course, I get it and I'm all "I should keep it for myself" but I know how it goes.

That's some of the nicest fiddleback koa I've ever seen. I'm tempted to pay you for a slice just to hold onto until I can decide what I'd want you to make. lol

Yeah, it's pretty sweet. My supplier calls it baby curl and told me that it's hard as hell to find stuff as nice as these pieces. There's no more left, though, maybe other than little bits I can use for the truss rod cover and maybe a control cover (which I'm not usually a fan of, but it might be neat).

Curly, fiddleback, rippled, flamed, tiger striped.... they're all basically interchangeable. There's one more common term that I'm forgetting too. It's driving me nuts. lol

Just got it back from paint, and the decision has been made to send it to its owner before the show. I'd hate for something to happen to it at the show.
