My wife, daughter and I flew out to SoCal for Thanksgiving week and we were able to meet Ron, after many a conversation. I sold Ron two King V cases and since we were coming out here anyway, Laurie and I just checked the two empty cases along withour luggage. After talking to Ron several times on the tele, I got directions to his house and finally had the pleasure of meeting him in person.
Don't let the Godzilla-like persona fool you; in person, he's the consummate gentleman. I'm sure his Mr. Hyde persona comes out if one was, oh maybe, Ed Roman, but he made Laurie and I feel welcome in his home. In all seriousness, he was especially polite to my wife, which she noticed and commented to em about. When someone treats a woman with respect as Ron did, it says a lot about his character.
My sister and bro-in-law were waiting in their truck along with my daughter so we couldn't stay long. But we did chat a bit and Ron showed me his guitars, including the Rand
I always figured that Ron was a man of pretty high standards (and grammar), but he went out of his way to make us feel welcome.
Ron got two KV cases and I met another friend. Unfortunately, one of the cases suffered a corner crack somewhere between my house in Illinois and Ron's house in Cali, but it was minor.
If you do any business with Ron, he's absolutely a man of his word and a great host. Hopefully Ron, if you get out towards St Louis, we can repay the hospitality. I'll call you in the next couple days and maybe we can hit a guitar store or two before we fly home.
