Chucksplatter graciously agreed to let me buy this neck:

since I had won all the other parts to this 83 Charvel Star:

So basically--including the ungodly amount that I paid for the tuners in an attempt to keep the guitar as original as possible--I paid a total of $633.50 for a maple pointy neck.
Anyway, the neck has been refretted, has a scarf joint repair and two cracks. None of which were disclosed in the auction. I can understand how a refret might go unnoticed since LUVGUN was not the original owner and only had the guitar for a short period before flipping it. But the scarf joint repair and the cracks are pretty obvious.
Before I arranged shipment, I talked to LUVGUN regarding the body and my concerns over what appeared to be a neck pocket crack. I pushed him to agree to pay for any necessary repair that might be required. He didn't commit to it, but he did agree to discuss it further once I found out more info.
Well it turns out the body is ok, but not the neck. So I emailed him a week ago to discuss the matter, and he has not gotten back to me, and based on my past interactions with him I don't really expect him to.
The above are the facts of the matter. What follows is more subjective.
In general, I have been less than pleased with his responsiveness during this entire transaction. He had over $1200 of my cash for a week before he actually shipped out the parts. This wouldn't have been a problem had he actually taken the time to return my calls or emails in order to set expectations with me. At the same time I was being ignored, he was posting on the JCF and placing ads in the Classifieds. So what ever ill will I was feeling by being ignored by a dude that had $1200 of my money was exacerbated by his enthusiasm for posting on the JCF. Whatever. Maybe I'm overblowing this...that's why I acknowledge that my thoughts on this are subjective...but if you look at his eBay feedback, he's received a few neutrals for late shipment and unresponsiveness. Plus a few friends on the board have agreed with me that I should be feeling a little peeved at this (not even considering the neck issue).
I'll post pics of the refret, repair, and cracks. You can read the auction text and see the auction pics for yourself in the above link and judge for yourself whether the neck was misrepresented.
