I traded cabs with Matt a month or so back, and about a week back I picked up a balck DK-27 that he had "lying around the house, gathering dust", with the plastic still on the tuners and trussrod cover. I threw in a Duncan Jazz/JB set, and proceeded to laugh myself silly over the big, punchy sound of a 27" scale guitar. Like Matt said to me, it doesn't quite sound like a guitar, but man is that B-string punchy with the longer scale.
He let me chill a little, check out his studio, and proceeded to give me a tour of his amazing Jackson collection while he gave me a taste of the new Division tracks. The sound was huge and brutal--he is someone I will be keeping in mind when my new band is ready to cut our first EP.
I've never played so many amazing Rhoads guitars before, from a beat to high hell workhorse, right up to the custom shop 7-strings he's using now. Unfortunately, the wife wouldn't let me move in.
Thanks for your hospitality, a personal preview of the new effort, and a new toy to tool around with for peanuts. Mike has always been great to me, so it was nice to get a chance to hang with the other Division guitarist as well.
