A neck I REALLY wanted became available before I had the funds, but the seller was really cool about it and I made sure he was aware of my situation BEFORE we agreed to do the deal.
And after we agreed to the deal, I was on it with PM's almost daily.
Not the ideal situation I like to be in when it comes to buying gear.

That's just BS to leave someone hanging like that.

Yeah, YAO, that's why I've started putting a timetable on such deals. I usually have no problem waiting on someone for a reasonable amount of time. But I've now had to start telling people "OK, but if you haven't paid within X weeks, it's goes back up for sale." I feel like an @ss setting a deadline like that on people, but it's the chumps that ruin it for everyone else.

Of course, the deadline has come and gone once or twice already. So I'll contact the buyer for one last chance, even if they need an extension. Inevitably, I get no response. And then when I relist it in the classifieds, the chumpola comes back out of the woodwork with "Hey, I thought we had a deal! That's mine - you can't sell it on me!"

Ive held stuff for a member before and it worked out ok. I dont like to leave guys hanging. If I dont have the funds when I inquire about an item listed I always make sure to say not to hold it for me, unless I know I will have the fundage in a couple of days.

I've held stuff for a couple of guys as well - and now they are cool dudes and I wouldn't do it very often, but there are some top notch guys on here. I've done my fair share of trading and buying/selling on these forums....I hear where you are coming from Shawn. All I ask is that you are straight with me - just don't feed me a line of bullshit and I'll be fine. I don't think most of us ask for a lot when it comes to this crap.

Or how about the "if you EVER sell that, I got first dibs"...that leads no where most times too. You tell them it's for sale..nope changed mind. Which is cool, but it's not "I can't afford it..it's nope I'm just not interested anymore". You give that person first dibs..and have to wait a week to hear you should have sold it a week ago...

Be happy that you all have the ability to be hounded for great guitars be it they sell or not to the assaulters. Goota look at the flip side of that coin, cuz I'd sure love to be hounded. It was fun when I recall the the average 20-30 calls a day , half to trade ,buy , or sell, and half to listen to me play. It was great, and when deals went sour , what the fukk can you do? Nothing. So fukk it. I'd love to be in a position to beat people away with a stick again. That's just me though.
Not helping the situation since 1965!
