There are still nice guys I consider "bros" that hang here.
I still thank you Scott for the "bro" deal that you gave me and I'm glad that I was of help to you as well. You gave me a great deal on a very special guitar without hesitation just because of the mere fact that I was a JCF "bro". Because of this I try to do the same for other JCF brothers. Just paying it forward. I don't really have to but I want to. And I thank God that some people don't like Metallic Black and cat hairs in a Rhoads case! Right, Scott?!

:ROTF: That is so true. Sounds stupid, but those are 2 reasons I got from people as to why the guitar didn't sell when I originally listed it on the JCF at a MORE than reasonable price.:ROTF:

Eh... it's your stuff until you sell it or give it away. If they turn around and sell it for a profit, good for them.

I've had a few people help me out with parts and stuff and I've returned the favor a few times myself. So the "bro" deal or mentality is still here to some extent.

Given the above scenario, I don't see what the big deal is.

If we all chip in for plane tickets, could we get you two to fist fight over this?

Of course someeone would need to video tape it so we can see it on webcast afterwards.

Let me know. I'll throw in $40, but you two will really need to fight.

I have had many *unasked* for bro deals here.

I bought stuff and got tracking numbers before I even get the paypal out.

I have offered to cover/split paypal fee and had he other party say "no, was not part of the deal"

If I sell something for a "bro" deal and it gets flipped in no time, so what, I may be a little pissed inside and may never give a that same member the "bro" deal again.

Just to be clear, he's lying...I bought the item on ebay {NOT on the JCF!}, it was not a "bro" deal, it changed hands at least three times since he sold it and I bought it. I had the item in my posession for over a month, probably two, and I made little or no profit when I sold it. I deleted the ad because it sold to a forum member, not because as he claimed he "called me on it". For this wacko to contact me out of the blue to drum up absolute bullshit is almost bizarre. But to follow up on the board with 100% lies and fabrication is fucked. I tried to keep this private, but he felt compelled to post his "RANT". Though he didn't mention my name, it was still BS, and I'm not going to be slandered by malicious liars. From where I sit, he's a liar and a coward.

Again those deals are usually by people whom you get to know..not the general public. I can say Chris (firebird) was awesome to deal with as well. Shawn took care of me very well in the 25th deal. There have been a few deals like that but those were people I had known here for considerable time ..Usually you can tell those people aren't here to make a buck

The classifieds got pushed to a point of policing because of the flipping crap. I remember one deal in particular where a member did a backdoor deal from a friend of mine and less than a week later had the piece listed in the classifieds for more than double the price. This person was doing this 3-4 times a week here and then he was locked out and the B.S started. BTW when I state double the price I'm not talking in $10 increments but hundreds... total B.S ..

Are there bro deals? yep they can happen, hell I've seen guys give away gear for free. Then there are others who are constantly looking to stick it up your ass.

First off, I really wish the original part of this thread could've been resolved in PMs. Both Pat & Doug are guys that I respect a lot & it sucks to see this type of thing play out like this. It's a misunderstanding gone out of control.

Second, I think different people define "bro deal" in different ways. I've had nothing but great experiences in deals here. None of my buys were major steals, but all were for less than I would've expected an eBay auction to end at. I don't sell, but I've given away quite a few things and it felt good to help people out. To me, the "bro" part of any deal is the peace of mind that I'm at least familiar with the guy, we share some of the same interests, and there's some accountability here in the feedback section if things go wrong. That beats the shit out of eBay any day. As far as sellers getting insulting lowball offers, I agree that's gotta be annoying, but I figure you could just say "I'm offering it here first. My price is firm & it goes to eBay (or I'll keep it) if it doesn't sell at this price or my revised price if I so choose. I won't have the time or any interest in responding to lowball offers."

bro deals are alive and kicking both here and other places.

shawn just sold me a sweet prs for sweet price.

a 3-way deal with shawn and chuck resulted in a loaded SD Tele body at my house yesterday for a very sweet price.

sully gave me a non-locking nut floyd replacement for free. as it turns out i solved my issue another way and i sent it to ron (racerx) for free.

several other people have given me parts for free. i have given away parts. between me and budman we gave away a whole guitar.

i've sold plenty of stuff at "bro" prices and had plenty of "bro" deals thrown my way.

the problem is that for every one of these "bro" deals/freebies there are a lot more tire-kickers, low-ballers, etc.

flipping things doesn't fundamentaly bother me. i sold it, you bought it, and now you're selling it. big whoop.

what bothers me is when someone goes to great lengths to pry something away from you for a low-ball price and talks about how much they appreciate it and they'll cherish it and they're thrilled and how they'll let you know if they ever part with it, and then the fuckers put it for sale a week later for much more than they paid and they don't even give you first shot at it again. that sort of thing speaks to your character. do you stand by what you said? i was very surprised at some of the folks that pulled this sort of shit with me. they can bite me. they'll never get anything from me again (unless i can't sell it elsewhere ).
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

I'd like txcharvel to make a follow up to his initial post and to address Mr Graphics comments.

I was the original buyer of the guitar from txcharvel. I got it here in the JCF classifieds. I later posted it here for less than what I paid (I was throwing in the Charvel chainsaw case for free, which I paid $20.00). No one wanted it here, so I sold it on another board. The guy who bought it from me didn't like it, so he said he was gonna put it up on ebay and try to get back what he had in the guitar.

MrGraphic posted in the eFraid forum his eBay win. I saw it and posted that was the same guitar I had for sale in the JCF classifieds. I thought that was cool that it had ended back in the hands of a JCF member.

So, yes the guitar has made its way through several people before it ended up with MrGraphic. I have been a JCF member for a few years now and I have never been negative to any member and I always treat all members with respect because that is how I want to be treated. So, please don't anyone take this as an attack on themselves, because it is not meant to be that. So, in saying that, I feel that MrGraphic has every right to sell what is rightfully his property for any dollar amount he wants to.

I have had great deals with both txcharvel and MrGraphic and I hope that will continue. I consider both of them as forum friends.
