Torres Engineering SUCKS

They don't answer e-mails or ship merchandise. Why do these guys bother with a web store? I had to file paypal dispute to get my money back.

I thought they were a reputable shop. Maybe they are in the physical world, but clearly they are incompetent when in comes to the internet. Either way, be wary in dealing with them online.

Thanks for letting us know. I had a buddy that ordered some wired pick guard assemblies with no problems. Aren't they in the Bay Area? Can you go down and pound on them?

Yeah, they are still far from me though, and it being a small order, it just wasn't worth the effort.

LOL! I bought an old Super Distortion from them and had no issues.

His Tube Amp book is ok, but a little weak. I like the guy who did the London Power series of tube amp books from Canada.

Yeah like I said I know of other people that had fine dealings with them. But obviously they don't quite have their act together when it comes to their web presence.

they are in San Mateo right? About 20 miles from where I live. How far are you away Bert? I was about to take my 5150 in for a bias pot install, they never replied my email either. Anyway, I found a guy who works on 5150's right near Brokaw and Zanker. He's pretty good too. Some king's amps or something like that.

You mean they never shipped, or didn't know about the order when you called to see what's up? Did they not honor a web price?

Like I said in my original post, they never shipped my order. But here are the gory details if you want them. Put in order on the web for a few items. Waited about a week and no update on my order, so I contacted them and they said "yeah we'll get those in a couple of weeks and ship them right out". A little pissed at this point seeing as their web site doesn't indicate anything is backordered, but no big deal, I don't really need the stuff that badly and they are at least communicating. But after 4 weeks still nothing shows up, so I send out a few e-mails asking what's up, but no response at all. Next I asked for my money back. Nothing happens again, so I let paypal deal with it at that point. Apparently they are too busy to even deal with paypal because they never responded to my dispute. Yeah I could have hassled them over the phone more to get their act together, but still, the fact remains that (1) they don't disclose on the web when they don't actually have items listed in stock, (2) they promise to ship stuff at a certain point in time and then don't, and (3) is they don't respond to e-mails.

I'd suggest if you buy something from them do it in person or over the phone & make sure to ask they actually have the stuff you want in the shop and it's ready to ship. Oh, and pay with credit card. Paypal worked out just fine for me, but credit card is still much safer. Good luck.
