Yes, it would piss me off, but if I'm selling on eBay, I try to be accomodating as possible.
Shreddermon - come on...never assume on eBay. If it's not in the pictures or mentioned in the ad, it doesn't exist - THAT'S RULE #1!!! You should know better.
My situation is slightly different than most. I live in rural
Montana and the closest music store to buy a case is
2 hours away.. I would have had to buy one online or
drive 4 hours to get a case which I was willing to do
but I wanted the money for case/guitar/insurance up front
which shred wouldn't do.
We couldn't come to an agreement then he leaves me neg...
I think I mentioned that before....somewhere.
where did the rock and roll go?? man my head is spinning...
this sucks bigtime but I don't really care. I have a VHT 2150
and (2) 4 x 12 fat bottom cabs ... no neighbors for ten acres.
and its way past time for a beer...

Shreddermon admits to being anal about the deal. (to me, that kinda translates to being a pain in the ass) However, he's just trying to protect his investment. With something like a neck fracture, I too would have wanted a little more assurance than "I was going to pack it exactly how I received it from TN with the addition of adding a Mars gig bag (a good one)." I've seen necks without problems get broken in a gig bag. I sweat until they arrrive.
Overall, I can't necessarily see how Bergsheil could have lost on the deal. Sounds like he was going to get his money no matter what. Shred was just looking for some assurance and offered up some goodwill money before going through with the deal. The picture might be considered a little excessive and not showing trust, but who can you really trust on eBay? (the commercials don't have me fooled) Being upfront and mentioning the time it would take to either get a case or purchase one online, I'm sure Shred would have either waited or backed down.
Ultimately I can't see how one could justify the vulgar tirades in feedback, bad deal or not. It just shows a lot of immaturity and not enough class.Occupy JCF

is that mature and classy?
Overall, he was trying to protect his new investment. Yes, he hit buy it now and already committed to the deal. Negative feedback is justified in this case. However, calling him the names that you did is NOT justified.
Again, lots of immaturity, little to no class.Occupy JCF

You are wrong, and I got your slam on me the first time. Do you feel better now?
It says "BUY It NOW" NOT "BUY IT AFTER I GET A PIC OF IT IN A HSC"

The way i see it, shredder assumed case was included or thought berg will be a "good hearted" ebayer and throw in a case for free. it did not happen. berg stays far from a music shop and probably is counting in gas mileage and stuff for the case and case money is coming up to a LOT which shredder is pissed off about. At some point shredder has willingly or unwillingly hinted backing off the deal which has pissed off berg and initiated a tirate of abuses and name calling. ...which is not correct. ...but neither is backing off a sale. Both are guilty as charged! With 145+ sales on ebay, I know how it feels for both parties.
I once became a "good-hearted" ebay seller and shipped a brand new ZW epiphone overnight in case and agreed to eat the fedex fees. This according to me was " a christmas gift" for the buyer. she sounded so nice and wanted to give this guitar as a gift to her fiancee for christmas. so, I sympathised with her and ate $70. Guess what, the guitar broke (either by her or by fedex. not sure). Now, she thinks the "good-gesture" was a cover-up to ship out a broken guitar. In business, there is no good-faith money or appreciation for good-heartedness. Shred should have paid in full what he wants IMO.
on a lighter side, like joe suggested, kiss and make up.Sam

The way this should have went down is simple. Shredmon should have asked the seller if he would ship the guitar in a HSC (at shredmons expense) and send him a picture of it before hand. If the seller says no, then don’t BIN. If the seller agrees then BIN . I don’t agree with not paying full price and would have paid for the guitar and all other fees if I hit BIN. If I didn’t want to pay full price upfront, I would have asked the seller if I could pay for just the case, get a picture of it with guitar, and then pay the balance. If the seller says NO, then I would not hit the BIN. Everything should have been asked/settled prior to BIN including "does this guitar come with a case?".
