Yup that was a brand new guitar though ...

You may be right and if that's the case, you'de probably walk away with a brand new custom ...

To get the action even on both the bass and treble side, the bridge must be uneven... which is keep the treble side action higher than it needs to be.
If the NAMM models all get the "standard shredder setup", and that's the low action they're known for, I'd like to apply for a job at Jackson doing setups. I can get them lower than that.

Possibly, but then again, it's my understanding that a trans black head gets a dark primer, as well as a dark edge as part of the standard finish. It may even get a black paper cap under the maple headstock laminate. The whiteness of my War Angel's finish doesn't allow for that sort of undercoat, and, as I understand, neither does trans blue or any other light color.

As for getting a timeline for the repair, the service center would make the call on whether Jackson gets it back or if they can fix it. Depends on the service center, I guess. If it went to GMW (if they were still a s.c.) then I would imagine they would strip it and refinish it. If it goes to a "wires and hardware only" facility, they'd probably send it to Jackson, who would strip it and refinish it.

OTOH, a crooked trussrod trough makes the rod pretty much useless, so it would probably be a rebuild.

If you truly want to keep the guitar, then send it in to the service center and have whatever work done the lifetime warranty covers. Warranties (as well as Federal Law) usually cover manufacturing defects, and given the fact that a trussrod requires a tight tolerance in angle, I'd say the whole thing had to be redone.

so how did this story turn out?

I guess you don't have to be a guitar expert or honest to run a forum.

Hope you got your money back. To say defects were not noticed is hard to believe, but then again selling that guitar to another board member takes big balls if you knew the guitar was a lemon.

I guess since it says "Still Waiting" under RobRR's avatar then he never was made whole.

Guess you can't ban the guy who runs the Jackson forum.

You are correct... guess I can finally change that huh?

As for the guitar... well, its at Jackson... thats about all I know. Jeremey has publicly responded in the USA section thread.

Hopefully Jackson takes care of it properly

Thanks all, Im really hoping for the best... most importantly, I want it done right. Rebuild or repair, I dont car, as long as its correct, and not band-aided. If they REALLY didnt want to rebuild it, they would have to pull the board and rod, fill the truss cavity, then rerout it on center, then reboard it and refinish atleast the neck. Seems like a rebuild would make alot more sense and would be alot easier/cost effective.

Well see though, I just wish I could get some kind of an update on it.

Well its over two months since I dropped the guitar off, and I havent been given ONE single update on it even though Ive asked many times. I KNEW this was going to happen as soon as the guitar left my hands, which was why I was reluctant to send it out. All I wanted was an progress report on it, ie. whats being fixed/replaced, when I can expect it... you know, the usual things youd expect when you send out a guitar for repair. This is beyond rediculous, as if it already wasnt to begin with.

If any of Jeremeys friends could contact him, tell him I want some answers NOW. Im sick of this fucking shit, I want some answers, my guitar or my fucking money god damnit. Im done with being Mr. nice and understanding... Ive been out WAY too much money for WAY too long and now Im fed the fuck up.

Well a simple phone call to Fender gave me an ETA of October 4th. Total of 3 minutes on the phone... now was THAT so fucking hard to do? After all the bullshit Ive put up with these past 5 months, I got an answer in 3 minutes... Jeremey, you couldnt take 3 minutes of your time to call them for me?

Well, you apparently didn't think of a simple phone call to them either until now. You did get your answer, so what's the problem?

The problem is its not in my name! I was lucky enough to get a nice representative. I shouldnt HAVE to think of it, BECAUSE I SHOULDNT EVEN BE IN THIS POSITION IN THE FIRST PLACE! I asked 3 fucking times for an update and all I got was they never emailed him back. Thats not an acceptable answer when Ive got a $1500 guitar floating around somewhere and I dont even know where the hell it is. THATS THE PROBLEM.

All righty then. I feel your frustration. At least it's taken care of and you'll be getting it back soon. Good luck with it.
