        • What a read.... This really is a testimony to Jackson customer service. It is kind of like buying a second hand car, not liking the interior color....Or it has a small oil leak and hunting down the original owner and getting a new car. I do not know of any other companies that would provided this kind of second hand warrantee.

What's funny is I didn't ban fett or anyone else who complained about this forum there in that thread. So what the fuck's your problem with me?

Toejam fuckin' ROCKS! Both on here and on the Duncan forum.

Neither do I any more, I've become disillusioned with all the rednecks.

It was a limited edition custom and the original owner was the owner of the JCF forum. And these issues were definitely construction defects that should have never left the Custom Shop. Jackson would have looked pretty bad if they had not taken care of this regardless of it not being the original owner.

The truss rod wasn't in straight and the lock nut couldn't mount to the actual wood of the neck, for Pete's sake! No doubt it came from the factory like that and was defective. If they hadn't honored the warranty I think they'd have hurt themselves pretty badly in terms of future CS and limited runs. So while I'm thrilled for Rob, I think Jackson was covering their own asses, and to an extent Jeremy's, more than being altruistic.

Any way you look at it, all's well that ends well, and Rob got the guitar he deserved, a LE run custom with no issues, as promised. Good for Jeremy and for Jackson for making it happen.

And quite a testament to their shoddy quality control, especially on their CUSTOM product, where these guitars are supposedly made by the best of the best, instead of being slapped together by some low paid McLuthier on a fast moving assembly line in some nameless sweatshop. Why did it even have to come to this? Where was concern for customer satisfaction before this guitar left the shop? And where was the concern for customer satisfaction by your colleague, a dealer, when the guitar arrived? No matter how you praise their "customer service", in at least 2 parts of the Jackson sales chain someone basically didn't give a fck about making and selling a quality product.

And is it disturbing that people are surprised Jackson did the "right thing"? As if such an occurrence is the exception, instead of the rule. And if they did used to be on top of making sure people were satisfied, what happened? At what point did Jackson simply stop giving a fck?

                        • Well, I can tell you that I did not have a reason to deal with Jackson between '89 and about '02. But in '02, when I needed some small parts, they sent them from free. Then I order a couple of CS charvels after fender bought them. I am not ordering any more new guitars form them. Not saying things were great before the buyout as my pre-buyout exposure was on a small thing, but that is my experience with fender was less than stellar and I am not alone.

Glad this one worked out, but it seems to be a crap shoot in some instances. Too much money for a crap shoot IMHO.

I guess I should have been more specific. You are right about quality control issues. I was just surprised that warrantee second hand instruments is something have not heard of before. Being an instrument builder, now where near the level of Jackson, I would not warrantee an instrument second or third hand. When the shit leaves my shop, it is right. My agreement goes to the original owner, period. Too many weasels out there trying to get completely new instruments because the original owner managed to put a stress crack in a neck pocket. Instrument owners are amongst the pickiest of my clients....And I have alot of very hi profile clients. From album covers to 100,000 motorcycles. All should expect the best. But I have seen alot of people in the musical instrument manufacturing business being taken advantage of by their willingness to please the public. I know some of you will railroad me for that comment, but WGAF. I could go into specific examples of what I am discussing.
I think that regardless of the quality control issue...It is commendable of Jackson to honor it second party. Where does it end though....4th...5th owner. At what point is it out of line for the company to tell ya to go fuck yourself.

                              • The guitar was NOT, I repeat, NOT honered as 2nd party. The warranty work was done by the original owner, not me. I had absolutley nothing to do with having the guitar repaired aside from dropping it off and picking it up where I was instructed to do so.
