Do any of you dig Mick's playing, especially on Too Fast and Shout at The Devil or do guys do like everybody else and throw him in w-all of the sorry ass 80's wannabes. I think he kicks ass.

as a lead player he is ok but he is one of the tightest rhythm players I've ever seen.. and he is way heavier live than on the albums and has a killer, crushing tone

Mick rawks. The leads aren't the most complicated ones, but they do the job.

Mick's a great player - I'd take his playing over most of Vai's output any day. Sure, Vai is technically on another planet musically, but I just can't listen to that stuff...

he gets wriiten off to easily, I think he's got some really tasty licks in his arsenal, he brings what the song needs, in fact in some cases his solos are better than the songs they are played on!.

I've always dug Mick's playing - always suited the songs. He's pretty self-deprecating in interviews, and doesn't seem to like Motley much at all.

I'm not a Crue fan, but how can you not like Mick? Just a rock solid, tasteful player and a good guy by all accounts.

he's about as pro as one can get?

he writes and plays for the songs to deliver the package that is required,
and rocks your ass doing it.

the only reason to listen to motley crue is mick i mean really?
hes the solid of the band, and he's the reason that band became what it is.

doesn't matter he's not, and never cared to be the greatest shred master ever... in fact i think more could be learned from mick about being a guitarist in a band than yngwie or any other ego driven guy.

i think he kicked ass and was probably more himself in style on theatre of pain - he had some good bluesy dirty down shit on that album -

he will probably only get any credit after he dies :|

Mick is solid, he often got slated, along with CC deville back in the day, but you gotta ask who had the last laugh in the end. The Crue are still selling out arenas and then some, & the formula of their success is simple, great songs.

How many of the shred dudes have sunk without a trace?

Looking forward to seeing them next year.

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

Sixx may write the songs, but the sound of them is all Mars.

I'm pretty much agreeing with everyone so far. I've always been a big Mick fan. He's not a shredder, but then, I've never really been into shredders either. His tone is just awesome in no matter what he does and his riffs and leads set the perfect tone for the song he's playing. VERY tasteful.

Good to hear all the positives on such a great guitarist. While I'm into the shredders like Yngwie, Lynch, etc....when it comes to listening to songs and putting on a cd from a true band.......the Crue have been one of my faves since I was in elementary school in the early 80's. Despite his illness, he plays GREAT live, and I agree that his playing is one of the most unique things about Motley- along with Tommy Lee's drumming. Another band and guitarist I feel this way about is Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora. The way I grew up with these bands, buying every album and listening to ALL OF THE SONGS....year after year.....these bands are just a part of who I am, and I still listen to them as much today as I ever did. Music and bands are just not like that anymore, as people will download one song and forget about them in a year. New bands and music are becoming sadly almost disposable trends - not like the old days where the bands that were your faves would be bands you'd spend your whole life being a fan of. It's sad for the new bands and for the younger fans, with the way things have become, it's all disposable.

                              I agree totally.
Mick is a killer player who plays in the context of the song instead of to stoke his own ego.
His live tone is probably the best - bar none. Eddie's tone on the reunion tour couldn't make a pimple on Mick's ass - Micks tone is like a soccer kick to the nuts.
