One extreme to the other... but Martin Lopez and Phil Collins are easily my favorites. I like Neil Peart a lot but don't listen to him often because although prog rock is my favorite genre, I just don't "get" Rush.

Tommy Lee (Crue) and Alex Van Halen. Two opposites of the spectrum.....Tommy pushes the beat and Alex does that laid back - off beat thing. Both awesome.

Another vote for Tommy Lee too - a man who hits the fucking drums not like, say, that gaylord from Pantera. When a drummer hits the kit, his whole body should be in time, everything on the riser should be rocking. When I see these poofter drummers tickling the kit without breaking a sweat, relying on the PA to create the thunder, they look like they are polishing their bell-ends. A real drummer sweats like Michael Jackson's doctor.
