    Short hair...obviously.

I can't stand having long hair. I just feel so unorganized.

The fact that you made this thread tells me that you unconsciously want to cut them rather than keep 'em so do it. No need to keep 'em if it's a hassle.

I had long hair for a long time. It was during an era when everyone looked like thugs over here... Nike track suits and half an inch hair. Very few had long hair and because of that many girls actually loved it. Then came the end to the douchebag era and suddenly all the kids started to let the hair grow. Huge hairdos everywhere. That's when I cut mine
Seriously, the reason was because it was a hassle. Long hair fits me but my hair just sucks. It's very thin and the natural colour looks like hay. I had too many bad hair days. It may have looked good in front of the mirror but when I went out, even the slightest wind made a huge mess.
I'd love the have long hair but only if the hair's good.

I don't know where you hang out but in SoCali there's so many gorgeous chicks who are willing to blow anyone who looks like he's in a band. Maybe you just lack some attitude or something... many posers fake it pretty well... countless hours practicing their walk in front of the mirror and whatnot. Or maybe you just are in wrong places.
When I hit the clubs in SoCali with Tommy you wont believe what attention he got. His hair is huge, long, thick and dark. Chicks just randomly came over and took photos with him

you guys still have that shit

many countries have laws which advise the employer to shut the fuck up when it comes to someone's appearance and personal life... you are hiring someone to do a job not to take him/her to a fancy dinner

Your employees have to reflect the business itself. If an employer hires a bunch of people who look like street thugs it doesn't look good for business. While I agree you're hiring someone to do a job, you also have to think about how that looks for an employer from the outside looking in. I wouldn't want to hire a lawyer with a Kerry King style skull tattoo or a full arm glove. Likewise, I wouldn't expect anyone to take me seriously if I had my body covered in tattoos with a lip ring. It's all about professionalism, which is sadly a concept lost on many people.

But then again, it's their body and let them do whatever the fuck they want to it.

and most women are full of shit... they wont admit many things but rather follow " programmed social norms" to have a feeling of comfort and acceptance in the society. (men do this too but mostly on different subjects)

ever heard "size doesn't matter".... bull-fucking-shit
ever heard "I don't watch other men".... bull-fucking-shit
                ever heard "I don't masturbate"... bull-fucking-shit
ever heard "I don't like that badass tattooed and long haired dude who looks like Nikki Sixx".... bull-fucking-shit

psychology abc... get them fucking drunk or high and you wont believe what kind of porn they admit to be watching and how many bros are gangbaning them in a harem in their dreams.

Look at it this way. A company which wants to appear "nice" outside rather than be respected for their actual quality can go fuck themselves. Many, many do that unfortunately.
It goes both ways of course... if a company goes that low that they give a fuck about people who may have a problem that the company has a dude working in the office with a Slayer t-shirt... and when the people have a problem with a company which hires folks who don't dress nicely... then it shows how shallow many can be. And it's sad because it shows that the quality of products or service is not a priority. And that my friend is not professionalism.
There used to be a time when employers hired their relatives rather than those who were good at the job. The results were often disastrous.
I somewhat understand the dress code, when it applies to only a couple of things a la lawyers, waiters at a multiple star restaurants etc. But for most of the professions that attitude is not honorable at all in my book. In most professions the look doesn't have anything to do with the actual job.
Living in a free country I like to wear whatever the fuck I want and whenever the fuck I want, and when I apply for a job and don't get it I like to know that it went to someone who is more qualified/skilled/has more potential/etc. rather than to some douchebag who wears a fucking suit.

I have no problem when someone tells me "hey you look like bum" but when that comes the criteria of qualification then I'll fucking loose it.

Have you considered donating your hair to locks of love (www.locksoflove.org)?

I am going to get my hair cut next month, and send it off in the mail.

Just curious.. what do you do for a living? I work in the telecommunications industry and there is absolutely and unwritten dress code. Sure... you won't see anything in the employee handbook stating pearcings, full sleeves and mens hair length. You will never see the handbook because you won't get hired. You don't even see long hairs in the shipping and receiving departments or as drivers anymore. Its all about presenting a proper corporate image.
Back in my day (from 1979 to 1992) when being a rock star was supposed to be my career, I had an earing and hair down to my ass. I worked at a car wash, I delivered restaurant supplies, I was a courier, I was a landscaper... etc. Thats usually the type of job you would get as a long hair rock dude. Nothing has changed. If you want to make ching.. you need to look and dress appropriately for the job. Its tough enough finding a job nowadays. Why put yourself at a severe disadvantage unless of course you are still trying to make it in the music business.

women prefer men with money and could give a fuck about the length of the mans hair as long as the wallet is fat.

the bottom line here is to do what makes YOU happy, not what women think or what a bunch of dudes on a guitar forum

right now I slack... umm... I mean... went back to university
To me that kind of corporate attitude sucks ass and I wont have any part of it... ever. But then again I'm from a different culture. I have worked in US but it was in Cali where people are much looser on these things.
I know companies over here who rather hire long haired rockers or so... because of the person may have a colourful personality and bring new cool ideas into the workspace or may be much easier to work with than with an uptight suit. My father who's very old school and works at least 12 hours every day said to me that he'd rather work with a bunch of hippies than with corporate ass-lickers because he'd love to work with people who have fresh and original ideas and more relaxed attitude.
And keep in mind, no one is gonna hire Wayne and Garth just because they look different... that would be discriminating the other way... but it's all about the personality.

look at this way... when a suit from the record company goes to a venue to discuss the record deal options with a band... how many rockers tell the suit to wear spandex/leather/tattoos/long hair?
Some folks need to loosen their panties a bit.

Oh yea, and regarding if women like long hair or short hair.... hair has nothing to do with it. Its all about attitude. Long hair hasn't been a requirement for being in a metal band for almost 20 years now. Now you need full sleeves, a bald or shaved head and multiple pearcings. Unfortunately.. when you grow up and realize that you probably aren't going to be a rock star and you need a real job you can't cut off your full sleeves and neck and face tatoos and if you disfigured your earlobes like I see lots of kids doing lately (with those giant disks they put in their ears) you will need some pretty serious plastic surgery.
