The Vikes covered, but also got screwed with that late Pass interference call! That was BS and ended up costing them the game! Add to that, the play that was reviewed in OT (that setup the winning fg), it was NOT a catch, the ball CLEARLY hit the ground!
So sad to see officiating like that for the NFC Championship...
I had the Colts, the over, the vikes and the over, so I cleaned house, along with a parlay with all of those... The NFL has been good to me of late!
My pick is the Saints and the over... Betting the proverbial farm on that one kids!
Don't blame Congress or the President - blame yourselves. ~Newc
I wouldn't feel comfortable betting $5 on the Saints after that anemic 2nd half of offense. Everything came from turnovers & that interference on the uncatchable ball. The Colts may not be able to stuff the run as well as the Vikes, but they'll bring just as much heat on Brees. The Saints will need 5 more turnovers, or for it to be a complete shootout. Both are possible, I guess, but I wouldn't put money on it.
The Vikes offensive line let Favre get beat up to much, that and the fumbles killed them. The third Saint TD(knees down before crossing the goal line) and the pass interference call at the end were horrible calls, but the Vikes ahouldn't have allowed a few bad calls to influence the outcome.
This sucks, I am happy for New Orleans though, that city deserves some happiness.
Sorry Tommy, I was hoping it'd be Saints-Jets.
As far as officiating and bad calls, well that happens so much nowadays that it kinda goes for and against everybody to a point. It is what it is and it's basically sniveling to bitch about what is just another condition in the game. You will likely quietly not bitch if the bad call helps the team you're behind, let's be fair.
Just as I am not upset about the bad calls that helped my team, because they've been fucked by other bad calls at other times. Karma decreed that this is the Saints' year.
Super Bowl? I'll be thrilled if they win, and it's possible, but Peyton and the Colts are a juggernaut. This year, so have been the Saints. Two best records in the league fighting it out, right? Seems fair and right to me.
The last drive of the first half for the colts, and Shonn Greene getting hurt on the first drive of the 2nd half opened the floodgates, not to mention the 2nd missed field goal by Feely, being a Jet fan you just couldn't help but feel the monster wave about crash down on the whole season. Without greene, the play calling in the 2nd half was too conservative, the completely stopped trying to attack the Colts. Losing Strickland in the secondary was a big a loss as Greene too, and Bart Scott is the captain and emotional leader of the Defense, he was a one legged man with a bad ankle yesterday. Don't get me wrong, the Colts steamrolled them all on their own, but those losses definitely hurt. There's no doubt who the better team is, they won.

Who here would like to see the rules changed for overtime? Just for the playoffs?
I would. I say eliminate the kicker, and whoever scores a touchdown first wins the game, OR- Play a full quarter of football until time expires and see where everyone stands after it. I mean, why even start the clock at all with the current rules? You completely take away clock management with the way it is now. I understand it for the regular season, but it should be changed for the playoffs.
To slug it out like they did yesterday, and then win a coin toss, get a decent run back and only have to get a couple of first downs and then it's over seems like it's not enough for me.
I would like to see a full quarter OT period in the playoffs too. Maybe if they are STILL tied at the end of THAT period, then sudden death for the NEXT OT period. I can see why they don't want it to be open-ended, though. For my selfish reasons I was glad the saints could wrap it up with that FG, but I'd sure be pissed if the Vikes had won the toss and done the same. So yeah, in the playoffs, it's not enough to have SD. It becomes a matter of luck in the coin toss to too much a degree.
usually I'm an AFC guy Rich, but I'm rooting for the Saints cuz they've never won a superbowl yet. I think the Colts are gonna win though, the line opened at 3.5 last night and has jumped up to 5.5 this a.m., i expect it to go up to 7 or higher before the game.
The Colts defense is better, but it will be a great game, this is the first time 2 first seeds have won since 1990, i'm excited for the game!!!
Farve flushed it all down the toilet. I tell ya, when it counts the most is when he fucks up. he has perfected it. how many times in his career have they been right on the edge of winning and he gets all wound up and throws the game losing interception......... Sure, he set a ton of records and is one of the best QB's ever, but he is also the biggest fuck up when it counts most.
as far as the jets. good team. they played hard, but the Colts are just better. of course Feely shanking 2 field goals dont help. I swear that one was so far right I thought it was heading for the OTHER goal posts! I predict He will be jobless soon.
