These are really 2 separate issues- and it's why capitalism goes hand in hand with freedom. Gene's free to pimp the name however he wants, and Newc is free to see it as a crass money grab.
Capitalists aren't obligated to cheer lead every money-making endeavour to avoid having the oh-so-scary "hyporcrite" monicker hung on them.

What if the government demanded that all citizens must be given a small shrine in their house dedicated to Jesus, to be paid for by taxpayers? If a socialist said, "What the FUCK is this?" would they be a hypocrite, since all were being given something equal, from the public weal?
This sort of silly absolutist view of the opposition comes from alot of sloganeering and not a hell of alot of depth of analysis. Newc isn't suggesting the government stop KISS from whoring itself on candy bags. He's just saying he thinks it's a little crass and presumably he won't be purchasing any KISS M&M's.
All that aside- It's not like there's a shitload of artistic integrity that KISS is throwing out the window here. They are what they are, and they do what they do, and they do it well.Comment
