maybe you haven't noticed but in this board folks who describe themselves as capitalists are the biggest crybabies when it comes to other people making capital... defending free market in one thread, pouring shit all over Eddie Van Halen in the other for selling expensive gear.

If you want them to take as 2 different issues (free market vs. capitalism as a "human characteristic" and not an economic situation) then no they don't go hand in hand. Fucking blolsheviks were hard core capitalists. They wanted money for themselves not for the others. They removed the competition, used propaganda to fill the heads of common folks with marxist mambo-jambo and all the cash went straight into their pockets.

I'm suggesting a separation between being a capitalist on one hand and finding a particular piece of specific capitalist activity crass on the other. Nothing to do with a condition, human or otherwise. Your comment seemed to suggest that there is some sort of hypocrisy if on one hand an individual espouses capitalist ideals but then complains about overpriced goods or instances of capitalism that are repulsive. There's not.

The funny thing about the mention of Eddie in this is the connection that VH had to Gene early on. Kiss is what it is now. They have been doing this forever so it's really business as usual.

Exactly! Hard to call it "sinking to a new low" when they were doing action figures and lunchboxes 30 years ago, not to mention their "disco" tune (actually one of their more catchy songs, imo). They are what they are & always have been. I was about 10 or 11 when they hit, right in their demographic wheelhouse, but never got into them. Most of my friends were nuts about them, but I was an Alice Cooper fan and just wrote them off as a watered down ripoff. I appreciate them much more now, and I think they probably spawned more rock bands than almost anybody else, so I can understand why lots of guys my age & a little younger worship them. They made kids want to pick up instruments, and their tunes were easy to learn & fun to play in the garage.

Zegna does make awesome suits... very expensive but you know one of the stereotypes about Southern Europeans, specially about Italians was that they are willing to spend their last pennies on a nice suit rather than on a rent, gas or something like that. If you watch Fellini's "I Vitelloni" then there's a bunch of young jobless men in postwar Italy and they all are wearing awesome suits all the time.
By the way, Pacino is a Zegna man too.
