Congratulations to Team USA for getting silver in a tournament that no one thought they'd even play for the bronze.
That was a great tournament and great hockey, Ih ope the NHL was paying attention to this, that is how the game is supposed to be played. Lot of flow, no sending teams on the PP 8 times a game etc....one of the best Olympics EVER for the game of hockey imho...
Yeah, no shit... I yelled "interference" about 20 times in that game, due to them being called every 18 seconds in the nhl. Shit calls in the "new" nhl that werent called here, and guess what, its a way better game. Like you said, no sending each team on 8 pps a game.
Its a complete catastrophe. But Im a professional, I can rise above it. LOL
It was a great game. I'm still bummed that the USA didn't pull it off. They played well enough to have easily done it, but someone had to lose. At least they got it to overtime, and thankfully it ended during actual play rather than a shootout.
I was just reading on TSN.ca that over 80% of Canadians watched at least a portion of the game and over 50% watched the entire game.
The US actually had a higher viewing audience in 1980 for the miracle on ice, but then they were the amateur Davids going up against the evil professional commie Goliath, so it was an easier sell.
Detroit stands pat on the trade deadline (no cap space, no players of value to trade away). Vancouver hands them their asses last night on another road game for them. Vancouver is a tough team, they deserve credit for their play but on the same token, the Detroit Red Wing played flat, uninspired dumb hockey. Here they are scratching and fightin for a ticket to the big dance and that is all they could muster? Just pathetic...
I sure wish Kenny Holland, Steve Yzerman and Mike babCOCK would put forth the same kind of effort in dealing with the team that paying their bills as they did for Team Canada. Leadership is questionable, I love Lidstrom but he is NOT a good captain. Steve Yzerman didn't have to say a word to anyone....he'd give you that classic look and you knew you better step it up..
did you know Vancouver is the first place on earth that has a place for drug addicts to come in off the street and do their drugs in a safe environment with new clean utensils? revolutionary I say. and good.
