Sydney Crosby looks like a man on a mission. I hate all the hype and press around him but man, the guy is an excellent hockey player and KNOWS when to step it up a notch.

The enigma of Crosby is he's a fantastic hockey player, but he's also a marketing exercise. One day you'll find out that he was banging goats and sheep on a European holiday with Rsmacker but by then he will have as much money as Tiger Woods so it won't matter.

Crosby has just been overmarketed to death. The rest of the world only thinks there is one player in the NHL and that guys name is Sidney Crosby. He has a rep as a whiner and a diver but I think that as he matured he's curtailing that aspect. I don't like Sid as a person myself but I have great respect for him as a player. What is scary is, I don't think he's reached his potential yet either, hes still going to get better. If he stays healthy he's goin have have long career in the NHL probably a first ballet HOF'er some day.

Over this side of the pond we don't get that much hype about Sid except if you watch US sports channels on the cable. Ovechkin gets more mentioned over here in my opinion. I don't really have much opinion on Sid as I haven't seen that many games with him. Not a fan of Ovechkin either, just because there's so much talk about how Sid is overhyped and Ovechkin should be instead of him yadda yadda yadda.... so you kinda get the Ovechkin' hype in your face too... by the Sid haters which gets pretty annoying... you know I live in a city where 40% of people are Russians, and they are a lot more into hockey so you can expect that kind of thing.

But is there a reason to believe that behind the Sid-hype is Bettman who just wants people to hate hockey?
