anyone watching this winter classic game? i know nothing about designing and laying down a rink, much less in a ballaprk, but doesn't it look like they put the ice too far out in left field? it's just too far away. of course you're not gonna get a great view like indoors, but it looks like it's too far away from the bulk of the audience.
one thing i do know is that Mike Emrick is really painful to listen to. And get Bob Costas out of there, he's a headache as well.

Personally I hope Comcast and DirecTV don't resolve the issue. Forcing the NHL to look at another carrier. Versus sucks.

in the US a national TV contact is non-existent, its not raking in $$$ like the NFL...tis just take it (content) and get some exposure which is always piss poor. ABC, FOX and NBC all have had NHL games and their overage is crap. A couple weekend games beginning in January and crappy day game coverages on the weekend during the playoffs.

ESPN didnt promote the NHL really, just the games they broadcast. Once VERSUS got the contract, ESPN decided to only cover the sport in its news about as much as womens field hockey....fukk ESPN.

At least with VERSUS the game is being promoted and they are doing a much better job than when they first started. Granted they dont reach the same audience base in terms of metrics but hockey is a niche product so it really doesnt matter if you pass a billion an done homes...you're still going to get the same type of ratings. As for the DirecTV/Comcast/VERSUS issue....even with DirecTV pulling the plug on VERSUS and losing all thous subscribers...they still broke all time viewership ratings. Comcast/VERSUS basically gave VERSUS (3 months free) away to DISH network and that made up the difference and then some. I really doubt Comcast will bend here and DirecTV needs to be concerned here because if they do not reach any agreement before the end of March they'll lose subscibers because of it. Right now folks are holding out for an agreement thinking it will be all peachy come playoff time. I know without question that I'll be done with DirecTV in March if VERSUS is not restored in their channel lineup.

i had the Pens on sat. against the Lightning, what a tank job. I've been playing NHL games as of late, and I'm proud to say I'm 15-6 so far, but the Pens kicked my ass sat. anytime I root for them (which is not often) or play them in a bet they fukk me, I hate the Penguins.
