Thats not true, Z shouldve dropped them. The instigator in the last 5 is to prevent the broad street bullies from going out and kicking the shit outa the other team with less than 5 left when theyre trailing 6-0 or whatever. If two guys willingly drop the gloves, and neither gets the instigator, it doesnt matter when the fight is.

I do agree, the instigator has to go, at least for the first 55 minutes. I think it does actually have some value in the last 5 tho.
Its a complete catastrophe. But Im a professional, I can rise above it. LOL

    • In BHL you are probably gonna see the Habs moved to Alabama and Oilers to Oklahoma before the instigator rule goes.

I do agree with a bit of a double standard for this kind of stuff. If that was (insert cheapshot artist/thug/goon here) cross checking Crosby, Malkin or Ovechkin that player would take some disciplinary action handed his way but the league
You are mostly right in that post...except Ovechkin handles the shit by himself! That's why he's the best player in the world. He's like Lemieux + Cam Neely in one player. A few weeks back he got hit in a game against Boston. In the following minute the player who hit him touched the puck 3 times and got hit 3 times by Ovechkin. Amazing player. He does have to reign in the reckless stuff a little though. I think it is getting harder for them to watch some of the hits because they are in high gear and flat out all the time.
My Duncan Designed pickups are way better than Seymour Duncan regular pickups you fanboy.

Yeah...too bad the forum doesn't have a minimum IQ.

        • It has hit me on the head what has to happen. The Steinbrenner family must buy the Rangers, there is no other way as far as i can see. They'll straighten shit out there if it could only be so.

          • Dunno Tommy, you are probably better with Yankees than the Rangers. If Steiney bought both, one of the products will get watered down. Would you sacrfice 162 games of baseball for 82 regular season games and 16 playoff games for the Rangers to win???

            • that's the point though, no sacrifices would be needed, they have the dough.
and the know how to build a great team both through the farm system and the free agency racket. they already have their own t.v. channel on the YES network.
this is the only way i see the Rangers ever having a shot again. they suck so badly that the strain is more than i can bear anymore. i've had it. i'm spent.

                • Goodwood comes out of the woodwork for his annual Crosby bashing while running his man-love for Ovie up the flagpole once again...ho hum

Unfortunately I missed the game...did anything go down between those guys earlier on? If Z claims he knew who it was, I have to assume that he knew Sid had a reason to be going after him.

Watching the replay, Z needed to drop the gloves and take care of business. And I don't see how that ordeal was nearly as harsh as some of you are making it out to be...it's hockey you candy asses Hell, it happened against Shawn's team and he's not whining about it.

                    • Rupe I don't think anything particular happened to start the scrum there. They were matched up and just battled the whole game with Z ending up on the better side of things. A different game may have a different outcome but Z did a good shutdown number matched against Crosby while getting 2 goals nad an assist. To me it was just Crosby taking out frustrations at the end of the game because his team was about to lose and he was pretty much shut down entire night.

                      • Tommy - Pizza boy Mike Illitch ownes the Tigers and Red Wings...he does his best but in the economy in that town it hard to throw cash at both franchises. He can't funnel equal amounts of cash at both teams.

The same with Hicks as the owner of the Rangers and Dallas Stars.....not enough money in the pot to build two quality teams. Both teams have been ho-hum. Can't wait for MLB opnening day, the Rangers have some potential again.

Perhaps in NYC it would work if Steinbooger has deep enough pockets to invest in both franchises....then have at it.

Do think he has any interest in taking the Lions off the Ford family's hands? That will be the only way the Lions ever get any success

it's just a dream of mine as current ownership and management has had a goalie
good enough to ride through the playoffs for the last 4 years and nothing has been built around him. smartly that is.

Thanks for the rundown...Z definitely needed to kick his ass in that case.

                              • me too Cliff.

I think all players should learn how to fight and protect themselves. I never understood players relying on other players to do their dirty work, sure you dont want your 10 million dollar hands players to be dropping the mitts To me thta aspect was part of the game and a pride thing that even though I wasn't a goon I was able to drop the mitts when needbe and carry my own and I'm under 6ft and 175lbs....of course I'd think twice about dropping them with a guy like Probert or Domi but if I was pissed off enough I'd give it whirl and take a beating as lesson and hope to land a couple shots along the way
