They didnt have curved sticks (easier to elevate hte puck) back then and not as much heat on the shot. I think it was Bobby Hull who came up with the curved blade and the slap shot.

It was Mikita. Story is that he got the blade of the stick caught in the door before a practice.

Tonight's game is for the cup boys. Teams had better play like its game 7. If the Flyers go down 0-3 they're toast! Chicago should be careful lettigm them up off the matt so to speak.....they can't give them any life. That philly barn is going to be a hostile environment...

and that is why you must gain a split on the road to start the series, now there's no room
for any shortcomings for the Flyers. They showed me something though in that 3rd period
of game 2, they obviously can play with the hawks, it's all coming down to goaltending as usual.

Exactly. While I am very impressed by this Flyers team's persistance, Chicago is no Boston. Going down 0-3 means they better dust off the Cup on Friday. If Philly can win both home games, the series is back on.

However, I don't believe Philly is "on the mat". Except for some lapses, they have met Chicagos effort at every level. The difference so far has been stellar play by Niemi and Chicago getting their scoring lines matched up against the Flyers' third defensive pair (Krajicek/Bartulis/Parent). Expect to see lots of Pronger/Timonen/Carle/Coburn tonight.

Spiv, the Blackhawks are pretty much in control if the series thus far, perhaps not having the Flyers down on the mat just yet but close. Games 3 are pivotal games and for the Flyers, a MUST win game any way you wanna twist it. The saying is you havent won anything until you win a game on the road and that hasnt happened......yet
