  • Saw Metallica on Monday (Jackson content)

Caught Metallica with Lamb Of God and Gojira on Monday night. Great show, the place sold out all 15,000 seats in 7 minutes! They played quite well, and had loads of energy. Kinda liked the whole in-the-round set up. Last time I saw Metallica was June 4 1989, so it was over 20 years!

Check out the link below for the setlist and some live videos from the show. Kirk dug out the black Rhoads a few times, including Sad But True (one of the vids in the link)

I saw them last night(Tuesday) here in Minneapolis. They changed up the setlist a little from the Winnipeg show, played Fight fire with fire which rocked the place.
+1 Played well, lots of energy.
I really liked Gojira, they're heavy as hell. LOG was cool, just not that into them.
As far as Jacksons, Hammet had his RR1T, the Gojira guy had an RR1, and of course Morton had his.

I think the RR is used on Sad and Thing that Should not Be because those are tuned down a step... I forget...

Sad But True is down a full step, but Thing That Should Not Be is only Dropped D.

IIRC live they play both in Dropped C (dropped d down a whole step) and Kirk uses the Rhoads for both...

Interesting! It wouldn't be the first time they've done songs in different tunings than originally.

I am surprised at you Toe that you missed this:

Technically, it's a 1985 Rhoads Custom. Letter-letter-number model naming didn't arrive until the early 90s.

Yeah, I did notice that but didn't feel like replying to it. The RR1T actually didn't come into the lineup until 2000.

Don't they also now play Seek and Destroy 1 step down in D? or is that B!

No clue. When Load and Reload came out in Eb tuning, I believe they did all the old stuff also in Eb.
St. Anger was like C or C# (maybe there was stuff in B, as I know there were baritones and 7-strings in their collection). I heard that Death Magnetic is back to standard E, but I can't bring myself to buy that one yet. :ROTF:

Don't bother. I turned it off half way through the record when it first dropped, haven't listened to it ONCE since then.
I hooked up my accelerator pedal in my car to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

I won't. I heard the whole album online when it first came out, really liked the instrumental track but can't recall too much of the other tunes except for the mix sounding too compressed and distorted.

I would have said boring, but your words work to. Lol.
