Agreeing with micha & mark here; your singer is not bad, but he really does need to forget about his shyness onstage! He's playing a character, so he needs to act out, act big. A bit of presence & charisma can go a long way. You guys need to have him face the audience (even if there's only 5 guys and a dude walking back & forth in front of the camera ).
Frontmen in rock / metal cannot be shy! I also don't like when he turns his back to the crowd - definite no-no there, just like when people shuffle in front of you at the movie theater, very rude to show your butt, gotta turn around ya rude fuckers! (One time I slapped this chick's butt with a book that did not go over well...oops went on a tangent there! WTF was I doing with a book at the movies? )
