      What a bunch of crap.
By far the most popular bands in the history are The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd etc. It's absurd to call their music inferior.
Any great musician will tell you that the hardest thing is to create a truly memorable melody.

I think this can go both ways. People can bring Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake and all those cats into the equation and can be dismissed as shit.

Reb Beach is a good guitarist, Winger sucks, and the poppy shit behind Kip Wingers probably suck.

usually the most beauty is in simplicity, and it's not easy to write by any means.
only 12 notes to work with ya know.

Maybe those people are fuckwits? All those are small time players compared to artists who have sold hundreds of millions albums. Most people don't know who the fuck Miley Cyrus is but there's a lot of motherfuckers who have heard of Beethoven.

Winger may suck but how many have heard anything other than their hair metal debut album?
Funny that you assume that something sucks without actually heaving heard it. And who said that Kip's success becomes mostly doing "poppy shit", as a classically trained musician/composer maybe he's busy writing classical scores or working with more alternative music artists?

Someone didn't watch the American Music Awards last night. Pop music does, in fact, suck.

pop music used to be top notch in my book. the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's, and a little of the 90's produced plenty of great tunes on the radio.
I've never been locked in to just hard rock, i like it all, and there's plenty that I don't like as well. it's all whatever floats your boat. who's to say what's good and what sucks when it comes to music? if you don't like something it does not necessarily mean that it sucks, it's just not for your ears that's all. and that's fine.

You aren't kidding. I was watching a bit while eating dinner with the wife and was surprised to see someone actually performing live vocals. I think it was Daughtry or Kelly Clarkson and I was okay with that, but then Shakira came out for her autotuned ass-shaking spectacular and I started to throw up in my mouth a little. Then Jay-Z and Alicia Keys came on and he starting spastically rhyming all this wierd shit about New York with 25 piano players and I just said "Fuck this, I'm going to go sit at my computer. This is bullshit."

Then I came back a bit later and some wierd broad named Lady Ga-Ga was smashing fake glass bottles on a piano. I wanted nothing more at that point than Wendy O Williams to blink onto the stage and smash her face in with a television. I can't wait for her little brother Mr. Goo Goo to start putting out albums.

I'd love to see the classical compositions Kip has wrote. Prove me wrong. Also, to even deny the success of all the pop boppers like Britney Spears is a joke within itself. I think hip hop is a complete insult to real music and their batched beats are simplistic and inferior to real musicians. I guess I'm just stupid for thinking so.

Yes it does, as does metal, rock, punk or whatever that's done these days without much originality

I'm not denying the success of Britney at all. But why everyone brings her up? There's tons of more popular artists in the history.
Hip-hop is not an insult to the music, hip-hop is a black man's Punk. Both had similar message, rawness and freshness when they came out and sadly both turned into utter shit along the way. Instead of Sex Pistols we have Bling 182 and instead of Public Enemy we have 50 Cent.
The production of hip-hop has become very mechanical. The producers used to use cool samples from many great funk and soul bands but now it's just a programmed click track most of the time.
But anyone who is really into rap music knows that there's also tons of talent still out there.. the stuff which you don't see on MTV. The Roots is a great band from Philly, really talented musicians, very groovy rhythm section and cool jazz harmonies on the keyboards. Or if people are into really crazy stuff then there's Dälek from Newark. They have more in common with alternative and industrial rock or even with Pink Floyd than with shitty MTV bubble hip-hop.

Winger was like alot of the bands from that era cookie cutter! Same stuff over and over again that everyone else was selling. Don't get me wrong they were very talented musicians. But what they got famous or known for was not the some of all the parts. Of course that was the music business at that time. Which is how it's always been. IE. how many Nickelback sounding bands are out there now?
