  • First Hot stove Baseball trade is done

Yankees pick up Granderson from the Tigers. They give up Austin Jackson, Phil Coke and Ian Kennedy. Diamondbacks involved in the trade too.
    What do you think Shawn?
30 homeruns for Grandy last year but his average dipped down to 249.
I think this move may be the end of Damon on the Yanks, but we'll see.
matsui's agent supposedly talking with the Angels, Yankees may still go after Mike Cameron, Halladay, Holliday, and or Lackey.
I think it would be much cheaper for them to sign Lackey and would love to see it.
Lots going on, looks like Jason Bay will stay with the Sox.

With his all around game and defense, a good add I think.

he could possibly hit 40 homeruns in Yankee stadium, but he has a tough time with good lefty pitching. his D is very good though, much more needed than his power.

I think they made a good move Tommy. Unload that 9 year olds arm they are over paying now and plant Grandy's feet firmly there.
Cards picked up Penny... I really hope this wasn't a major fuckup.. Good pitcher but comes with alot of tude.

i think the cards are pretty set already but there's always room for more right.

            quote-
The Yankees have re-signed Andy Pettitte for one-year at $11.75 million, the Post has learned.

The two sides quickly hammered out an agreement once Pettitte signaled he did want to play again in 2010 -- and only for the Yankees.

Between base salary ($5.5 million) and bonuses, Pettitte earned $10.5 million in 2009. So the Yankee rationale was that Pettitte should get that plus a minor raise considering the strong season he had last year.

The Yankee offseason plan was built around obtaining Curtis Granderson and re-signing Pettitte, and both might be officially announced today.

With those two pieces in place, the Yankees feel more comfortable holding the financial line on Johnny Damon in negotiations, pursuing Roy Halladay without desperation and bargain hunting for left fielders, relievers and perhaps a starter such as Rich Harden.

that makes it interesting with lackey who I thought would go back home to texas. I think he could be a Yankee, Texas always needs pitching, they always have a good lineup but this could help them a lot.

I don't follow the Yanks closely, but I heard an interview w/ Michael Kay a couple weeks ago, and this falls right in line with his predictions so far. The really interesting thing he said was that he thinks they may take payroll down quite a bit for next year. We'll see about that one...

Angels just put together a package of Saunders and Aybar for halladay.
lackey will be in pinstripes if it goes down.

Granderson is a stud, don't let last years batting average scare you. He was out leadoff man, good defense in centerfield, has a lot of speed and chase down outs that would be hits with other centerfirlders. He also can steal bases...

I'm bummed, he had an off year last season but he's a good guy with the skills. The Tigers lose Polanco and Edrin Jackson as well. Look to be shedding payroll and maybe trying to go younger (cheaper).

that's due to his agent being Jeff Borris and not Scott Boras-lol
scotty would have had him somewhere.
