So many bands did it right, adding growls and such in for effect only, like Testament on Souls of Black.

I never understood why anyone thought it would be a good idea to do an entire song that way, but then the more I watch Metalocalypse, the more I get into the method of grunting out the lyrics in a meter that follows the rhythm.
I dunno.

I can't see Run To The Hills being done that way and not sucking, but short, sharp verses that match the chug-ch-cha-chug seem to fit. Still can't understand WTF they're saying, but whatever it is, they're into it

Glen Benton, Mikael Akerfeldt, David Vincent - guys like that are brilliant IMO.
Guys like him from Cryptopsy who just sound like they're puking - yeah, they suck.

Hate it, can't stand it. I loved Trivium's The Crusade and can't stand the new CD. It blows me away how all these metalcore kids bitch because the vocals aren't vommited out on The Crusade. The only cookie monster vocals I can stand are the first several Children of Bodom CD's, only because the rest of the music is so good.

Bodom dont use cookie mosnter vocals never have bands like Arch Enemy johan the original vocalist was much better and understandable if the new singer wasent female people would be less polite and not be so amaxed by her...

Hundreds of others do to, the bodom vocals are more like the black metal vocals which are often described as witchy and screechy takes some time to get used to his vocals. Dethklok are probably one of the easiest cookie monster bands to listen to...

Depends what you mean. Most bands are terrible at it but when done right (So you can understand it) it can definitely add to the music. Most of those crappy metalcore bands' singers don't even try to make the vocals understandable and they only do it because it's popular.

I think Angela Gossow does great CM vocals - she's better than a lot of dudes, as she actually makes an effort to pronounce the words. Other than that, my favourite growler is still Petrov.
