  • Oklahoma.....BLIZZARD???

That's something you don't hear everyday..but that's exactly what we have on our hands here.

It started sleeting around 7:30 a.m. Changed to snow around 10. Wind gusts to 60mph. We're due for another 4 to 5 hours of snow. All airports closed. Damn yucky.

Now I'm from Michigan, and yeah it's bad, I've seen worse..but Oklahoma isn't prepared to take care of this kind of stuff. This is BAD for here. It's crippling everything.

We ended up with 3+inches of sleet, and 14 inches of snow...it's still pretty bad here. Yuck.

I dont read much into it. The news today said this was the first white Christmas DFW has seen since 1926.

Question is - where the hell IS Oklohoma?

Just north of central Texas, basically, on the Great Plains. A bit far south to see this kind of thing often, but just far enough north that it can happen occasionally. They are probably used to getting a mild level of snow a couple ti8mes a winter, but not a blizzard like Michigan and the Dakotas get.

We didn't get any snow, but we got a deluge rainstorm yesterday. I happened to be driving in it and when you can't see, but have to keep going, that ain't fun eother!

I don't mind the snow at all, which is a good thing since we'll have ended up with a couple feet by the end of the weekend I'm sure. It's the rain and sleet that are the real ass-kickers for me, because sooner or later (at least here in Minnesota) you know it's going to drop just a couple of degrees colder and cause it all to freeze. That's when it gets really bad.

Looking outside, I see that I have to shovel out my driveway yet AGAIN. There's at least three feet piled up at the end where the snowplows went through overnight. My neighbor said that she wishes she'd bought a snowblower, and I replied that most snowblowers would have had a tough time with this crap. Wet, heavy and slippery to walk on. Bleah.
