  • philosophical guitar banter

This may seem a bit nerdish, but I seem to connect on a different plain with my guitars. For instance, depending on what guitar Im playing I seem to be mentally in sync with the genre of music most commonly associated with the guitars style. I used to have a PRS copy that when I played it I seemed to write more "commercial" rock sounding stuff, like (uggh) Creed. I also used to own an 87 Kramer Baretta and every time I played it I couldnt help but feel like my hair was too short, not curly enough and not bleached enough(which is why I got rid of it, I dont like hair metal and didnt like feeling inspired that way). It just never felt right playing what I consider metal on those guitars. Anyone else have this affliction. I kinda feel like a dork.

I'm the same way. I have different guitars for different moods/musical genres. To some degree, their looks as well as their sound influences what I play on them.

Probably because the word is "plane" not "plain".

I have the same problem. I have a sparkly Westone Raider. Everytime I see it I want to stick it up someone's arse, possibly the person who suggested it was a Culture Club guitar.
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

      I nearly broke her back

I can see this. I tend to play more aggresively on my Rhoads than I do my soloists. its kinda strange......

              Yes:
Barndoor mini bich: classic rock and electric blues
Hamer Phantom: Police, jangly stuff...Pretenders, Byrds, Tom Petty
Charvel Model 88: Full dimed out shred mode.
Jackson DKMGT: Compromise...anything between blues to Slayer
Jackson PS4: Paul Gilbert, Satch, shred with a whammy
Kramer ST300: SRV (!) Thorogood, a weird blues rocker. Gary Moore might apply.
              And so on.
That is exactly why I hang on to ten or so guitars.
No two alike, and in my paws for a purpose!
