Look at the way E-bay has fucked up buying guitars in pawn shops. They didn't used to care, they'd be happy doubling their money, and in view of the fact they usually give £50 for anything, you could get some bargains. Now, the first thing they do is get online and see what they are fetching on E-bay. Result - the guitar then sits in the shop for 12 months gathering dust. Everyone now thinks they are an expert.

Too true. Tough to find deals at Pawn shops now. Before the Internet and Ebay, I scored a few nice axes at garage sales and flea markets too.

On the other hand, sometimes you can take advantage like Rsmacker states in his post. If someone does some half-assed research and decides their 87 soloist is a JS model and they want $150 for it. I'm happy to take it off their hands with a clean conscience.
