And "great" shredders aren't great IMO cuz it's all the same sweeps and warm-up scales over and over. there isn't much character to the tone of the guitar with all the tones being like wet insects?
how exactly would you characterize the sound of "wet insects"?!?
in my imagination; unable to crawl or fly they make at least way less noise that way if they do at all...

ha!! true....i was trying to write as close to the quote as possible. BUT...i do view a lot of "shred" tones as being very hi-gain with reverb and/or delay slapped on top...the "wet" part is the reverb/delay - the "insect" part is the overly hi-gain sound, scooped and served without tone.
GEAR:
some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!
some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!
and finally....
i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!
alright, got it now I guess...
and I agree, even more is just too much sometimes.
I use lots of gain as well (usually without effects though), but lately I feel like turning it down a little...
I still dig the sustain and overall feel of it, but sometimes the noise gets on my nerves badly and I just feel like it's hiding the attack or how you call it.
China and Japan are destroying us financially, that have been doing it slowly for years. what would you like me to do about it? stand on the docks and single handedly prevent all the imports from coming into our country and jam the international phone lines so no more jobs can be sent overseas?
It takes the effort of one for the success of many.
I contribute every April 15th. and some other days too.
Talk about going above and beyond. Thank you for paying my salary.
To keep with the spirit of this thread...you know what pisses me off? People who complain about dumb shit when most of them are neither willing nor desire to take actions to correct it.
1. People who point at their wrist while
asking for the time. I know where my watch is,
buddy...where the hell is yours? Do I point at
my crotch when I ask where the bathroom is??
2. People in the supermarket check out line
who wait until their entire bill is rung up
before they begin writing their check.
Hello...is the store name going to change,
or the date, or your signature before the
clerk finishes? Get a clue!
3. People who are willing to get off their
ass to search the entire room for the damn TV
remote because they refuse to walk to the TV
and change it manually!
4. When people say..."Oh, you just want to
have your cake and eat it, too." Screw that!!!
What good is a damn piece of cake if you can't
eat it? What should I do...eat someone else's
piece of cake instead.
5. When people say..."It's always the last
place you look." No shit!! Why the hell would
you keep looking for it after you've already
found it?? Do people do this?? Who and where
are they??
6. When people say, while watching a movie
.."Did you see that?" No, dumb ass, I paid
$7.50 to come to a theater and stare at the
ceiling up there. What did you come here for??.
7. People who ask, "Can I ask you a question?"
Didn't really give me a choice there, did
ya buddy?
8. When something is "New & Improved," Which
is it? If it's new, there has never been anything
before it. If it's an improvement then there must
have been something before it!
9. When a cop pulls you over and then asks
if you know how fast you were going. "You should
know, asshole. You're the one that pulled me
over!"
Here's the 10TH thing that really bugs
me....
10. Chain letters! Who the hell thinks that
by annoying other people with stupid mail with
no meaning, that they will grant you a wish, or
make your long-lost love fall into your arms.
Bullshit! I'm so sure that by breaking a stupid
chain letter that the computer gods are going to
curse me!! What a crock of shit!!!
By the way, if you send this to 10
people, shit won't happen, and that person you're
in love with won't come crawling to you...so if
you feel this is funny, go on and send it to some
one else, but don't expect one damn thing in return!

Ya know what pisses me off? Bulldyking bitches and their shiny limited edition Soloists!:ROTF::ROTF::ROTF:
Yeah, for real. What's even worse is that the assholes leave ONE guitar uncalled for and, naturally, that's EXACTLY the number I want when I'm doing my damndest to talk myself out of buying the fucking thing!
Just watch. They're going to cause me to have to buy it when I already have three USA Soloists!
I ran into that frequently, but I sort of have a story that sort of contradicts all of this.
I use to bring my guitar fucking everywhere with me, I'd go to friends houses with it, fast food joints, whatever, wherever, whenever! One time I went to my cousins house and we decided to go on a walk.. So what did I do? I busted out the strat (my buddies mutt strat, but I had it for ages) and we were walking to a food place not too far away from her house. Once we get into the little town center that the food joint was in, some guy gave me this awkward look (I was use to getting strange looks but this was different). He walks up to me and goes "What kind of guitar is that". I go "Warmoth", he instantly says "Have you ever heard of Charvel and Jackson?" I was like... Lol. I own 3 USA's and 2 Jap Imports from the early 90's. He then proceeds to ask me about some guitarist who's name I still forget. He replaced Richie Blackmore. I think his name was Tommy Bolin or something? He played Charvel guitars. The name kind of slips me. Anyways, he goes onto tell me he knew him very well and produced one of his albums and was possibly his manager. He talked about this guy a lot and then gave me his card and told me to call him sometime, I'll look around and see if I still have it and see if the name checks out..
Huge cluster-fuck of a story, but it was surprisingly nice to be thrown off by someone questioning me about Jackson guitars!
Tommy Bolin died in 1976, before Charvel/Jackson existed, so he must have meant someone else. But yeah, it's nice to run into someone who knows what C/Js are.
When I run into the Les Paul snobs, I usually say "Yeah, I have a Les Paul. It's sat in its case for the last 25 years though. I need more than it can offer."
If they still want to engage, I will engage. Usually they just get a look like their head is hurting as they try to think and that's the end of it.
