Can't we all just agree that everyone who doesn't like exactly what I like is WRONG and STUPID? :dunno:
For the sarcasm challenged, imagine there is a winking smiley face somewhere in there.

Putting it plainly this is a stupid statement period.
There are plenty of country players who could not hold a candle to some of the shredders on this board if they had to play in the shred style.
Comparisons are really childish dude.
A good guitar player no matter what style does not need gobs of distortion. It is done with the fingers. And for that matter when you do have distortion a good player knows how to keep it under control with their technique ie. fingers.
There are a lot of good styles - no best. Go argue with the jazz forums.
I'm not in any way saying that one style is better than the other. Just agreeing with Tim that there are numerous country players that deserve their share of kudos instead of being lumped into the "country sucks" school of thought. Country is WAY down on my list of favorite music, but I in no way look down on the players themselves. Go have a listen to Brad Paisley or Brian Nutter with the Keith Urban band. Brian is actually a metal-head at heart, but plays in a country band because that pays the bills. Some of his instructional videos on youtube would surely open your eyes a bit.
